Pre-Registration is where you can pick up your badge and receipt if you’ve already registered. On-Site Registration is where you can register or update your information.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept luggage or packages at Registration or hold them on behalf of attendees. Please check your luggage with your hotel if you need a place to keep it while you attend the meeting.

Two registration types are available for the ESA Annual Meeting this year. The In Person Registration includes access to everything that Virtual Registration gives you access to, plus in person attendance.
Option 1: In Person
This option gives you access to the sessions taking place August 4-9 in Long Beach. Plus access to all online content. You can register for the full week or one day in person.
Option 2: Virtual
This option gives you access to all online content for this year’s meeting. You can only register for the full week for virtual.

After completing the transaction for membership, please log out and log back into the portal to receive member pricing for the meeting.
Registration Types
What’s included with my registration?
Option 1 – In Person Registration (Full Week or One Day): You will have access to all sessions and social events except for a few that require an additional fee (field trips, short courses, and ticketed social events such as the Diversity Luncheon and Student Mixer). The Welcome Reception on Sunday and the Closing Networking Reception on Thursday are included for all registered attendees with no ticket required. Most sessions will take place in person in Long Beach. The short course will be held virtually (via Zoom) and will be clearly labeled as virtual sessions in the meeting program. This year we will have 13 hybrid invited paper sessions that attendees can attend in person or livestream on the meeting website. Full meeting registration includes a complimentary coffee break each morning and light food and refreshments during every poster session. Full meeting registration includes access to virtual meeting content as described under Virtual Registration.
In Person One Day Registration includes access to all sessions and social events except for a few that require an additional fee. You can only attendee these events if they are held on the day you selected. If you want to attend sessions on multiple days, you need to register for a full in-person conference registration. It is not possible to select two (2) or more In Person One Day Registration options.
Option 2 – Virtual Registration (Full Week): You will have access to all virtual sessions except for a few that require an additional fee (short courses). This year’s meeting will include 13 hybrid invited paper sessions that will take place in Long Beach and will be livestreamed to the meeting website so that virtual attendees can also participate in real time. Virtual short courses will take place through Zoom and will be clearly labeled as virtual sessions in the meeting program. On demand virtual content will be available on the meeting platform until summer 2025. This will include recordings of the three plenary sessions as well as 13 hybrid sessions. There is no One Day option for Virtual Registration.
GUEST: Access to non-scientific portions of the meeting program (social events, field trips) only for the family or friends of the Full-Week or One-Day registrants. Additional fees to register for individual trips or social events also apply for guests. Anyone who plans to attend scientific sessions (oral/special sessions, posters, workshops) should not register as a guest. If you are coming with a childcare provider (spouse, partner, family member, nanny, etc.), please contact the ESA Registrar for assistance.
A guest is defined as a spouse, significant other, or family member who is not a member of ESA and who may not have an interest in ecology but will attend purely to accompany a family member or friend. Professional colleagues must register independently.

Refund and Cancellation Policy
Written notification of cancellation must be emailed to ESA REGISTRAR. Registration must be cancelled by July 18th and a USD 50.00 fee will be assessed for processing refunds. For questions regarding registration: email ESA REGISTRAR or call (202) 833-8773.

Registration FAQs
When I am logged in and completing my registration form, I see the wrong registration rate (i.e., non-member when I am a member who recently joined or renewed). What should I do?
This most likely means your ESA profile is not reflecting your current membership status with ESA. If you joined or renewed the same day you are registering, please try logging out and logging back in. If this does not resolve the issue, please email us at registrar@esa.org and we can investigate this for you.
Can I register someone else for the meeting?
You can register someone else, but it requires logging in to their account and using their credentials. If they do not have a profile with ESA, you can make one for them and register from that account.
After answering the questions on the registration form, I am having trouble proceeding to the next step. What should I do?
Click “Save Responses”, and you should be able to progress to the next step and complete your registration.
I would like to return to my meeting registration form to update some of the information. How can I do that?
Log into your ESA account. Click “Account Access”, then hover over “Annual Meeting”, and click “My event receipts”. Under “Event” click “ESA 2024 Meeting”, then click “Edit registrant information”. Remember to save your responses when you are finished by clicking “Update Responses.”
I need a receipt for my registration. Where can I find that?
Log into your ESA account. Click “Account Access”, hover over “Annual Meeting”, and click “My event receipts”. You should see an Order Number. Click on that and then you can download your receipt as a PDF by clicking on the PDF symbol.
I registered before I had been notified about a registration grant and just learned I was approved for funding. What should I do?
Please email registrar@esa.org to request a refund. This process can take 2-3 weeks.
