Member-at-Large/Member

The Council Member-at-Large positions started in 1948 and were transferred to the Governing Board on its creation in 1995. Three members-at-large were elected for two-year terms.  In 2022 the position of Member-at-Large was eliminated and replaced by Governing Board Member.  Board Members serve three-year term. Governing Board

Effective spring 1995, ESA shifted to a Governing Board that makes most decisions, currently consisting of eleven elected officers: the President, President-Elect, Past President, Vice-President for Finance, Secretary, and six Board Members.  The President serves a total of three years on the Governing Board, including one as President-elect and one as Past President. Vice-Presidents

ESA members initially elected one Vice-President.  After a restructuring in 1995 four individual Vice-Presidents managed responsibilities in Science, Public Affairs, Finance, and Education and Human Resources, respectively.  In a further restructuring in 2022 all Vice Presidents except Finance were eliminated.  The Vice President for Finance serves a 3-year term and is part of the Governing Board.
