Learning Objectives:
As a result of this workshop, students will be able to:
- Describe how current environmental challenges are related to human systems.
- Evaluate different human responses to environmental challenges
- Improve understanding of ecological principles.
- Develop research questions to explore how ecosystem services (food, fiber, air, water and energy), quality of life, and economics are related.
- Understand tools that can be used to evaluate different policy responses to environmental change.
- Analyze spatially explicit interactions between policy, land-use and land-cover change, and ecosystems using GIS.
- Apply principles for effective science communication to both scientific and general audiences
Understand the basis of socioeconomic and ecological datasets. - Gain familiarity with NEON framework.
