Action Alert: Endorse the NSF for the Future Act

May 25, 2021

Dear ESA Members:

The US House of Representatives may be considering the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the Future Act (H.R. 2225) soon. The bill would reauthorize landmark legislation for the National Science Foundation (NSF), provide steady, increasing funding levels for NSF and also create a new Technology and Engineering Solutions Directorate. The bill contains provisions for diversity, equity and inclusion to broaden research opportunities in underserved communities and expands the Graduate Research Fellowship Program.

The House Science Committee will be voting shortly to pass the bill out of Committee and onto the full House. ESA is formally endorsing the legislation and our letter is posted on the House Science Committee website.

We encourage you to also support the NSF for the Future Act by signing the letter online that our sister society, the American Physical Society (APS), has offered for our use.

The letter will remain open for sign-on through Tuesday, June 1.  Once the letter is closed, APS will deliver a single letter with all signee names included to the House Science Committee and House leadership.

APS disengaged any opt-in functions, so signing on does not opt the signer into getting APS emails or texts. Signees will appear in APS’s grassroots system for this one activity, but APS does not share/sell user information.

Thank you,

ESA Public Affairs Office
