The Society for the Study of Marine Bioinvasions, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 10th International Conference on Marine Bioinvasions will be held in the beautiful coastal city of Puerto Madryn, Patagonia Argentina. If you work on marine bioinvasions, this is an event you can’t miss; this is the place for you to be in 2018!

Biological invasions – the movement of plants and animals outside their natural range by humans – represent one of the most pervasive global threats to marine ecosystems. Increasing trade, transport and tourism, have greatly expanded the numbers of marine organisms that are moved around the world and the locations that they are spread to. The International Conference on Marine Bioinvasions (ICMB) is an international forum in which scientists and policy makers from around the world meet to review current challenges in the global management of invasive marine organisms and to share new developments in science and policy.

The ICMB is convened every two years. It operates on a not-for-profit basis under the Society for the Study of Marine Bioinvasions, Inc. The purpose of the Society, by holding the conferences, is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and research results among scientists and policy makers from around the world about marine invasive species. These exchanges are intended to inform scientists and policy makers about the patterns of invasions, their effects, and how to reduce or control them.
