ESA Excellence in Ecology (EEE) Scholarships

The ESA Excellence in Ecology (EEE) Scholarship supports early – mid career ESA members who have achieved a PhD within the last 20 years.  This initiative addresses one of the Recommendations from the ESA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Task Force to support and elevate diverse scientists in our community.

SciComm in the Parks Fellowships

We are pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the inaugural Science Communication in the Parks (SCIP) Fellowships.  The purpose of the project is to support communications related to high-profile regional resource initiatives that are addressing the impacts of climate change and other stressors in the national parks. Initial projects will focus on the Northeastern National Parks.  Selected SCIP Fellows will receive a $3000 stipend, professional development in SciComm and work with a Project Mentor with SciComm expertise and NPS liaisons to develop two SciComm products each.

Applications close August 12, 2024.  In future years, applications will open in April.

ESA-USGS Cooperative Summer Fellowship Program

ESA is pleased to partner with the US Geological Survey to offer summer internships to outstanding field-trained undergraduates for whom the experience would be transformative. Students may only be nominated by faculty who teach or direct field courses or field programs equivalent to 40 hours of biological field research training or other qualifying course or program.

Nominations open in August/September.

Scientists in Parks

The Scientists in Parks Program is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) along with several non-governmental partner organizations; Stewards Individual Placements, the Ecological Society of America, and the Geological Society of America.

Every year, the Scientists in Parks (SIP) Program places hundreds of college students, recent graduates, and early career professionals across the National Park System to work on natural resource management needs. Each opportunity with the SIP Program affords a distinct and memorable experience with projects that vary based on location, length, focus, and complexity.

Applications open in December and May.
