Respect and Recognition
We hold and celebrate those among us who make powerful contributions not just to the science of ecology, but to ESA and our broader community of scientists.
In celebrating scientific work and contributions to ESA, we welcomed another excellent cohort of award winners, ESA Fellows and Early Career Fellows. Members made sure that their peers were recognized, making 99 total nominations for awards and Fellows in 2023.

Members also honored their colleagues in making nominations to leadership roles in ESA, from committee seats to elected positions on the Governing Board and Board of Professional Certification—52 nominations made. From those nominations, members then elected the slate of new leaders for the Society.

Our donors constitute an enormous part of our financial picture as well, especially as they contribute directly in the programs that allow us to better include all ecologists. In 2023, 576 individual donors contributed $341,209—this includes meeting the goal for the Gholz Endowment, starting the new EEE Endowment and funding dependent care for the Annual Meeting on top of thousands in support to student award programs and the SEEDS general fund.
